Epic Jams
4/5/2010 … What a whirlwind weekend. I played the Good Friday service with Calvary Church, bowing some classic Bach Chorals with a full choir, cello and bass clarinet chamber group.
On Saturday we started an all-out explosion of sound recording with the band 12,000 Trees. We had 10 musicians in the live room recording a small army of percussion, guitars, synths and wind instruments. Special thanks to Mike Thies for helping with the recording and Ishlab studios for providing the space. Rough mixes coming soon.
After the recording session I headed a few blocks to a jazz gig with Amie Amis at Superfine. The room was receptive, we met Eric Dolphy’s cousin, and ate some vegan soup!
With all these fine music works I was still able to find time to have a limbo contest at the McCarren playground and check out a house show from The So So Glo’s in Bushwick. Cheers.
